Many a good natured centered person is duped by shaytan’s whispers into thinking they can’t possibly come close to the standard expected by God. They think they’re nowhere as holy as some random holy person out there.
The interesting thing is they're precisely where a Muslim is supposed to reside psychologically and spiritually. They are awake to their own inherent weakness, see themselves as ordinary, flawed and recognize that there are sins they need to repent from that distance them from God. They further recognize they need their Creator’s help in order to get closer to Him. These are the perfect coordinates from which to move towards Allah.
Next comes Surah al-Fatihah which gifts the seeker the very words they need and they find Allah has captured the call of their heart in this timeless prayer. How did He know! He knew because He is the Creator who created and knows each one individually.
And then as a person chooses to turn to Him in prayer and declare iyyaka na'budu wa iyyaka nast'een followed by guide us to the straight path, they will be guided forward on the path of those He is pleased with. Who are they? They are the trees, birds, mountains, and flowers.
