Passing Thoughts #1
Human transgressors give subliminal messages, repeat scripts that maintain a false reality for so many, and deliver indirect or direct commands designed to elicit obedience or a useful response. And all of that is only when they’re playing nice.
The approach of the One True God is entirely different. His messenger is instructed that his task is to deliver the message only. He is not to take on the responsibility of the response of people. “Your duty is only to deliver the message . . .” (Surah Ash-Shura, 42:48)
When the Prophet (saw) is saddened by the responses of those that refuse, Allah consoles Him in various ayat.
Unlike false gods, Allah wants us to turn to Him willingly. You are invited and your personal will is considered. Submission and obedience are valuable only if they emanate from a willing heart. “Let there be no compulsion in religion.” (2:256)
If you decide you want the path and all the responsibilities that go along with it, then it’s “welcome and take hold of the truth as firmly as you can.” Then, you are fully responsible. And what a deal every such person has made to serve a Master who is appreciative and filled with mercy—a mercy so vast we can hardly make sense of it.
Even for those who refuse, He is gracious and patient. They are not to be locked out of their digestive, respiratory or nervous systems immediately and they are still allowed to breathe the air and eat the food grown in His Kingdom. What a Gracious Lord.
